So let the weekend begin with red!

I shall be starting the weekend off right with Happy Hour at the Dog House...A.K.A. The Douglass House.  A very fine establishment that dates back to the Copper Mining days in the Houghton area.

Mark and I stopped in a few weeks ago and were happily greeted by free chili dogs! We enjoyed a dog at the Dog as well as some rather tasty beverages and our regular half-dozen of pickled eggs! Delicious!
I have to experiment and make my own home batch of eggs...some day...

Happy Hour truly is going to make me happy today! I will mostly likely consume a few of my favorites...Killian's Irish Red!

Start of something new....what an adventure!

I'm really loving my painting class.  Learning how the paint blends and the power in a brush is great. My teacher the incredible Yueh-mei Cheng is a wealth of knowledge.  She says she teaches from the "eastern school" way of master and apprentice. 
I feel inspired by her words.  With hope I will be able to create my own masterpieces!

The kids and I went to the beach last night...Lake Superior has been so beautiful this year.  I enjoyed swimming with the kids, collecting beach glass, and relaxing in the sand with a good book.
I love playing with Trevor and Sophie but I have to admit the view from the beach is the best....watching them play together and hearing their laughter. It's my favorite thing in the whole wide world!!

What a great idea....everyone loves photos, especially random ones...I took this one this past week. It was the view from our back deck and it was incredible. The clouds were moving quite quickly, in fact each photo I took was only seconds apart and the clouds seemed to be getting closer to me.  Yeah, OK I'm a cloud watcher! :)

Monday made better with just one little thing...

Yes I hate Mondays just like a lot of other people do...it seems to creep up and have a way of ruining a perfectly fun weekend.
My weekend was completely full from camping out in the backyard with the kids, having my mom and sister Jenn over for a delicious dinner and summer fresh berry dessert, to cruising along Lake Superior with Copper Harbor being the destination.  
The kids and I are were very excited (well maybe just me) about the Fort Wilkins State Park Civil War encampment/reenactment weekend.  Canons exploding, old time music being played, history to dig into!

After a fun-filled weekend and a weird sleep pattern, Monday morning arrived way too early.  I did stumble across this little gem and it made me smile and remember my fun weekend.

Birthday shoes!!

So I received these incredibly fun shoes for my birthday and although I've worn them a couple of times, I need to figure out the best way to rock these bad boys....

Besides the fact that they are red, they are totally comfortable, classic, and wayyy cool!

They deserve more time out of my closet!  Thank you Mark AGAIN for these shoes that represent me and my personality so well!
